Department of Internal Medicine
The Department of Internal Medicine at the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is a well-established academic unit that
provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services for internal diseases
of companion and exotic animals based on scientific principles. The department
actively engages in education, research, and community outreach.
Our department addresses a wide range of
clinical conditions observed in various animal species, primarily cats, dogs,
horses, cattle, sheep, and goats. These include diseases of the digestive and
respiratory systems, circulatory disorders, urinary system problems, endocrine
and metabolic diseases, as well as infectious and zoonotic diseases. These
conditions are evaluated using modern diagnostic methods.
Educational activities are conducted at
both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, combining theoretical instruction
with hands-on practical training. Our primary aim is to cultivate veterinary
professionals who are equipped with contemporary knowledge, capable of critical
thinking, and committed to ethical values. In addition, we offer master’s and
doctoral programs that foster scientific research and academic development.
With its advanced laboratory
infrastructure, state-of-the-art imaging technologies, and clinical practice
areas, our department provides high-quality education and makes significant
scientific contributions to the field of veterinary medicine. Our academic
staff closely follows and contributes to advancements in the field through
research projects, national and international publications, seminars, and
congresses.
Thanks to modern medical equipment and
laboratory facilities, accurate and rapid diagnosis of animal diseases is
achieved, and effective treatment protocols are developed. The department also
conducts consultancy services, fieldwork, and scientific outreach activities as
part of its community engagement efforts.
Through established protocols with animal
shelters, rehabilitation centers, and veterinary service units affiliated with
municipalities, our students gain hands-on experience in the field and develop
practical skills. Joint projects with these institutions encompass clinical
case evaluations, vaccination, parasite control, and the management of zoonotic
diseases that are critical to public health. Moreover, in line with agreements
with military institutions, the regular health monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment
of service animals (especially dogs) are carried out by our experienced
academic staff. These collaborations contribute to both public health and
animal welfare.
The Department of Internal Medicine is
committed not only to providing education and healthcare services but also to
generating new knowledge in animal health, producing scientific publications,
and contributing to the advancement of veterinary medicine. In this context,
the department continues to train veterinarians who are research-oriented,
ethically grounded, and professionally competent.
